C3 Foundation & Pressline Entertainment LLC. Presents:
Art, Fashion and Design Extravaganza
From Swahili to Swag young people around the world and here in Los Angeles desire to tell their story, better yet share their identity through what they wear. As people of color we possess of legacy of editorial impact on the world. If our young people wear “it” then everybody else will wear it. Even if “it” is everyone from Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, The GAP to Russell Simmons’ Phat Farm, Kimora Lee Simmons Baby Phat or Beyonce’s House of Dereion.
It is of course no surprise or at least it shouldn’t be when young people want to create of design fashions that speak to and represent who they are. Without question or negotiation is the importance of education and how it will shape the capabilities of young people to live and prosper as productive members of society. What is taken for granted is how other talents and gifts along a more creative spectrum can be fostered and developed.
Respected elders overlook the value of these pursuits for our youth. Often, creativity when bottled up without a chance or opportunity to flourish will metastasize into frustration, angst and rebellion.
We believe however with the support of community leaders we can effectively expose youth to available opportunities in the worlds of fashion design, interior design and fashion merchandising providing young people who have ambition and have even demonstrated a gift for the craft a chance to learn more about related occupations.
The Greater Leimert Park Village/Crenshaw Corridor Business Improvement District Board Members meet regularly with business owners and local leadership to engage our youth by imagining ways to connect young people with available opportunities or the creation of opportunities that will not only expose, but train them in the fields for which they demonstrate interest.
As these opportunities start to be realized, Pressline Entertainment in association with the C3 Foundation will host the 1st Annual Art, Fashion and Design Extravaganza August 20,2011 at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood from 1:00P.M. - 4:00P.M This event that will showcase drum, dance and runway ready Fashion Design, as well as, bring together industry professionals for various panels that will bridge an understanding between our youth and their areas of interest. The day’s activities will culminate with a photo shoot that will integrate music, hair, make-up, fashion and photography allowing young people to connect all the dots for themselves.
